WELCOME TO OUR BLOG!

Welcome to our EDAP-693 Spring 2009 blog.

Here are a few reminders of what you should be working on this week.

  • Massaging a personal piece of writing for response group
  • Analyze the personal writing piece-finding what the writers knows & is ready to learn as well as the learning experiences you might provide to move the writer to more sophisticated thinking. You may wish to use Marker Papers, our course texts, experiences from class & other resources to plan the next lessons. Additionally, review the syllabus for a model of the expectations.
  • Be prepared to discuss Davis/Hill chapter 6, 8 & 10, Anderson chapters 1-3 (readings from last week & for this week). To prepare for this discussion, please use an activity called clustering (from the book "Content-Area Writing" by Daniels, Zemelman & Steineke) to capture your associative thinking. Simply put, create a web of your thinking and learning from these readings. Label the center "key ideas from Anderson & Davis/Hill chapters". The stems from this center idea should include an arm for each chapter. From each chapter stem, please include two additional stems for "new ideas I'd like to try" and "other important ideas" from which you'll add as many additional stems as needed. Simply picture a traditional webbing graphic organizer. This preparation will drive the discussion of these chapters. If you have questions, please email me at sandra.hogue@jefferson.kyschools.us so that I may clarify.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK & LIVE LIKE WRITERS!
